Your clients may provide the space and equipment for you to work. This way you don't need your own equipment, but you may have to be prepared to travel.
To open a shop or gallery you will need to make a financial investment and have a lot of examples of your work to display. It could pay off, because the shop front acts as an advertisement for you and your work.
